The historical abode is fittingly replete with many of the furnishings produced by Carl Hansen & Søn and has the appearance of a quintessential lived-in Carl Hansen showplace. Indeed the large attic was renovated in 2014 and now acts as a showroom and additional living space. The attic’s angled roof helps confer a sense of intimacy and the wide oak planks from Danish company Dinesen add warmth depth and character.
Even though the color palette veers away from using any bright hues and largely employs white pleasant wooden elements in the dining room kitchen and at the entrance provide all the textural and visual contrast necessary. This also creates a bridge between the existing home and the modern extension aesthetically and allows for a blend of contrasting eras.
Even in the kids’ room it is only décor and toys that bring in pops of bright color to an otherwise neutral backdrop and this theme continues into the master bedroom and bathrooms as well.
